What browsers are supported by the Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, Inc. web site?
For the Vanderbilt web site, we recommend the use of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and above. For AOL users,
versions 8.0 and above are preferred. We recommend that you enable JavaScript in your browser as some
portions of the web site may not be viewable without it.
How do I determine my current Browser version?
If you are using Internet Explorer:
- Select "Help".
- Select "About Internet Explorer" - The version number will be listed in the center of the pop
up box.
If you are using Netscape Navigator:
- Select "Help".
- Select "About Communicator" - The version number will be listed at the top of the page.
Where can I go to download a supported browser?
To download a recent version of Internet Explorer go to:

Can I use AOL to view the site?
AOL users running version 4.0 or higher can access the web site. If you are unsure of what version you
are currently running, complete the following:
- Enter Keyword: "Browser" - This will open a pop up box that states both the browser currently
in use, as well as the encryption level.
- If the browser does not meet the site requirements, or your current version of AOL is
less than 4.0 proceed by clicking "Upgrade".
- Follow the steps outlined by AOL to download a newer version of the software.
- If the problem persists, contact an AOL customer service representative.
I am running Netscape Navigator Version 4.72 on Windows 2000 and I continue to receive a message
stating that I am unable to gain a secure connection between Netscape and Microsoft Internet Information
Services (IIS).
This is a result of a known issue with early releases of Windows 2000. To resolve this issue, download
Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000 from the following web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/Windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp2/download.asp.
I am running Windows 98 using Internet Explorer 5.0 and the pages of the web site do not load
properly.
This is a known issue for users with Internet Explorer 5.0 running Windows 98. To resolve this
issue, go to
http://www.microsoft.com/Windows2000/downloads/ and upgrade to Internet
Explorer 7.0 with Service Pack 2 or greater.
I am using Internet Explorer 5.0 and receive an error message stating Identity Certificate Name is not
correct.
This is due to a known issue with Internet Explorer 5.0 where the browser is unable to recognize a
specific object ID describing the contents of the certificate. To resolve, go to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ and upgrade to Internet
Explorer 7.0 with Service Pack 2 or greater.
